Čilipi is a small village, located 22 km from Dubrovnik, and 5 km from Cavtat. Čilipi is a part of Konavle region – the most southern part of Croatia, located on the Adriatic coast. Čilipi with its beautiful scenery is a great place to experience the traditions of Konavle.
In the center of the village there is the largest church of the region – The Church of St. Nikola. The steps of the church go down to the small square, which has become a stage for the folklore performances. Already for 40 years from the Easter to the end of October, every Sunday after Mass, at 11:15 tourists become the witnesses of the colourful, hilarious folklore show.
We loved this place. We visited the local wine tasting, while listening to a beautiful singing of the local choir, and a small market where they sell a variety of souvenirs, local food and other nice things. After we walked around the neighborhood, attended a Mass and then sat comfortably on the steps and watched the national dances. I even managed to dance with one of the dancers, he invited me together with other guests for the last dance.
