Chiang Mai is full of markets which make the streets come alive daily in the evenings. The biggest and most famous market in Chiang Mai is the Sunday Night Market. If you are planning a trip to Chiang Mai just for a few days, make sure to include Sunday into your itinerary, as the Sunday Night Market is something you can’t miss out on.
The market starts at Thapae Gate and occupies the entire Ratchadamnoen Road, which is closed for traffic. The market is full of Thai crafts, clothes, shoes, acсessories, musical instruments, stuff for the kitchen, bedrooms, oils, soaps and much more. Of course as at all markets you find a lot of food and drinks. There is also a big food court near the temple with lots of tables.
The Sunday Night Market street is full of temples, local music, restaurants, and coffee shops. You can find many places for massage both outdoors on the street and indoors at massage salons.
At around 8-9 pm, it gets so crowded at the Market that you barely can walk. So if you head to buy something at the market, better to come here at 5-6pm when there are not so many people. We come here every Sunday evening however not for the shopping, but for the ambience, as it’s an amazing event to experience.
Hope you enjoyed this post! Have you been to any Bazaar? What kind of shopping do you prefer? Let us know about it!
