Tasty Italian Journey

Updated Jul 17, 2013 (first published Nov 2012) - Leave a Comment

In July of this year we went to visit my fiance’s sister in Rome. It was a wonderful week! I won’t write about the city or suggest places to visit, as Rome is such a famous city and top travel websites have all the information you need. With regards to places to eat…where ever we ate, all restaurants or any small pizzeria were really nice.

I think it’s very difficult to find a place with bad food in Rome…though it’s possible. There was one restaurant, Leonardo at Piazza Mignanelli, which we didn’t really like. I can’t say that food was very bad, it was ok. But comparing to what we ate before it was not that good. I wouldn’t suggest you to go to this restaurant. However the place next to it, on the left “Ristorante Alla Rampa”, was really good! Food was delicious and fresh! We ate at this place two or three times.

The best place for italian gelato is definately Gelateria Della Palma! It is located just a few meters from the Pantheon. I’ve never seen such a wide variety of ice cream! They have more than 150 flavors! Everyone can find an ice cream to one’s taste.

Another place I would suggest you to visit is the bookstore R.E.D. (Read, Eat, Dream) which is located on Via del Corso, close to Piazza del Popolo. You enter the shop and find lots of colourful interesting books about various subjects. There is also a small area with four armchairs and IPads.

You go further and find plenty of pretty books about food, which attract you with their tasty pictures. Then, you find a small area with armchairs again but now, surrounded by food: pasta, wine, olive oil, bread, sweets, sauces etc. At the end of the shop there is a restaurant area in the bistro style. There is also a nice eating area outdoors in the courtyard. R.E.D. offers very good quality fresh italian food.

All places I’ve mentioned are highly recommended! Now let me show you some photos from our tasty italian journey 🙂
